Biography

Dr. Nicholas Mohr is a physician-scientist with expertise in emergency medicine, critical care, and epidemiology. He holds multiple leadership roles at the University of Iowa, including Vice Chair for Emergency Care Research in the Department of Emergency Medicine, and directs both the Emergency Medicine Critical Care Fellowship Track and the Physician Scientist Training Pathway within the emergency medicine residency program.

Dr. Mohr completed his medical degree at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine, after earning a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Iowa State University. He pursued residency training in Emergency Medicine at Indiana University and later completed a fellowship in Critical Care Medicine at Washington University in St. Louis. He also holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Investigation from the University of Iowa College of Public Health.

Board-certified in Emergency Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, and Neurocritical Care. Dr. Mohr’s research spans acute care delivery, neurologic emergencies, and critical care systems, with a focus on improving patient outcomes and training the next generation of physician-scientists.
