Margarita Cardozo, MD, MSc
Dr. Margarita Cardozo is a Colombian physician and epidemiologist serving as Global Studies Coordinator for DONE SYMPLE, one of the Cerebrovascular & Neurointerventional Lab’s multinational stroke trials, where she oversees the trial’s day-to-day execution across participating sites. She earned her medical degree from Universidad CES in Medellín, where she also completed a master’s degree in Epidemiology and Biostatistics. Her research career has been closely tied to neurointervention: as a Research Coordinator, she managed interventional trials of endovascular devices for intracranial aneurysms, first-in-human studies, and a feasibility study of thrombectomy devices in Colombia. Most recently, she directed a clinical research organization, overseeing randomized and Phase I trials, observational studies, and sponsor agreements under GCP and national regulatory frameworks. At the CVNI Lab, she brings this combined clinical, methodological, and operational expertise to advancing rigorous trials that improve outcomes for patients with cerebrovascular disease.
