Victor Torres, MD
Dr. Victor Torres Cárdenas is a Colombian interventional neuroradiologist and Research Fellow in the Cerebrovascular & Neurointerventional Lab, where his research is focused in the characteristics of blood clots in acute ischemic stroke and their implications for thrombectomy. He earned his medical degree and completed his radiology residency at Universidad CES in Medellín, followed by neurointerventional training, and brings over fifteen years of clinical and academic experience in endovascular treatment, including mechanical thrombectomy, flow diversion, intrasaccular aneurysm treatment, and AVM embolization. He co-developed the MAC and SNACE aspiration techniques for acute ischemic stroke, has participated in industry-sponsored device trials and Colombian multicenter registries, and has presented his work at SNIS, ESMINT, SVIN, and WFITN. He has also led a vascular simulation laboratory using biological models to train neurointerventionists across Latin America. At the CVNI Lab, he brings an operator’s perspective to translational research, connecting findings at the bench with practice in the angiography suite.
